QUICK ANSWER

What cooling-channel evidence should a buyer request before approving an export injection mold handover?

Connect the as-built circuit drawing, permanent connection labels, agreed integrity-test record, circuit-level flow evidence and molding-trial results. A statement that the mold does not leak is not a substitute for evidence that the cooling arrangement supports the agreed process and part requirements.

Decision checklist

  • Match circuit IDs across the as-built drawing, labels, photographs and test sheets.
  • Separate integrity-test results from circulation evidence and part acceptance.
  • Record actual trial conditions and any differences from the destination installation.
  • Assign interface owners, open-item actions and closure evidence before shipment release.
01

Separate three questions before approving shipment

This is a purchasing checklist, not a pressure-test procedure, a mold design calculation or a claim that a particular mold has passed acceptance.

The first question is integrity: what test was performed, on which circuits, under which approved conditions, and what was observed? The second is circulation: how was coolant flow demonstrated through each identified path? The third is process performance: what part and process results were recorded with that circuit arrangement?

Autodesk's cooling-circuit guidance explains that inlet definition, circuit arrangement and channel restrictions affect cooling-system design. It also identifies the risk of little or no flow in poorly balanced parallel branches. This supports requesting circuit-specific evidence rather than relying only on a total supply reading.

DME describes flow, temperature and pressure measurement at cooling circuits, including inlet-to-return differences. These are examples of useful measurement categories, not a requirement to buy a specific monitoring product. They do not establish acceptable limits or prove that a GEERPOWER mold has been tested.

02

Use one identity from drawing to trial record

Assign an identifier to each circuit and use it consistently on the drawing, connection labels, photographs and test sheets. Require the supplier to distinguish the as-built arrangement from an earlier design revision. A buyer should be able to locate a recorded measurement on the actual tool without relying on the person who conducted the trial.

Record any temporary trial hoses, bypasses, manifolds or adapters. If these differ from the intended destination installation, make the difference an open handover item instead of assuming the plant will reproduce the trial setup.

03

Cooling handover decision table

This is a proposed buyer worksheet. Test conditions and acceptance criteria must come from the responsible engineers and the project agreement, not from generic internet values.

Circuit-level cooling handover worksheet
Handover itemRecord to requestDecision the record supportsHold point
Circuit identityAs-built drawing revision, inlet and return IDs, labeled photosCan each path be identified on the tool?Drawing and physical labels disagree
Connection interfaceThread and coupling specification, seals, adapters and hose accessCan the destination connect the intended equipment?A visually similar fitting is treated as compatible
Integrity evidenceApproved method, medium, limits, duration, date, result and test ownerWas the identified circuit assessed under the agreed method? The report says only tested or no leak
Circulation evidenceCircuit ID, flow reading, units, sensor location and operating setupWhat was observed through each relevant path?Only the combined supply value is available
Trial conditionsCoolant setup, inlet and return observations, resin and process revisionCan the cooling evidence be tied to the sample run?Trial samples and water records cannot be matched
Part acceptanceAgreed dimensional checks, sample identity and dispositionDid the sampled parts meet the written criteria?Good-looking photos replace inspection results
Maintenance handoverCleaning instructions, access details, seal list and preservation procedureCan the buyer maintain and store the tool as intended? The handover relies on undocumented verbal advice
04

Keep factory evidence separate from site evidence

Factory acceptance and destination acceptance should have separate sign-offs. Define which utility conditions were available during the mold trial and which remain to be confirmed at the buyer's plant. A different supply, distribution arrangement or connection setup needs to be evaluated, not silently treated as identical.

If the mold is part of a turnkey injection molding project, name the owner of each interface: mold circuits, temperature-control equipment, distribution hardware and plant supply. The word turnkey should not conceal an unassigned connection or missing test obligation.

Use the wider production-cell acceptance checklist to connect these records to the machine, mold, auxiliary equipment and final handover file.

05

Close exceptions with a record rather than a promise

For every open item, record the circuit or component, observed issue, required action, responsible party and closure evidence. If an agreed shipment-critical item remains open, resolve it through the contract's acceptance process. Do not describe a conditional release as an unconditional pass.

Ask the mold supplier for written preservation and restart instructions appropriate to the tool and coolant system. This checklist deliberately supplies no universal test pressure, cleaning chemical, drainage procedure or operating temperature. Those choices require equipment-specific instructions and competent review.

06

Prepare the cooling review package

Send the circuit drawing, connection photographs, trial records, destination utility information and unresolved questions through the GEERPOWER project review form. Keep measured results separate from proposals. Cooling performance, cycle targets, equipment selection, price and delivery must be supported by the specific project file before they become commitments.

Project-specific test conditions and results remain NEEDS_EVIDENCE until documented. Technical references do not establish that the buyer's mold passed a test or uses a cited supplier's equipment.
FAQ

Common buyer questions

Does a leak-free result prove adequate cooling?

No. It answers an integrity question under the recorded test conditions. Circulation and molding performance need their own agreed evidence.

Can one flow reading represent every branch?

A combined reading does not, by itself, document how flow is distributed. Identify the relevant branches and agree what measurements or other evidence are needed for the actual circuit design.

Should the buyer require a particular monitoring brand?

Not on the basis of this guide. Specify the evidence, measurement suitability and records required. The cited DME material illustrates measurement categories and is not a GEERPOWER equipment recommendation or supply commitment.
